| Rapids Riders Sponsored Races |
Rapids Riders "sponsors" a race by taking on the responsibility of organizing the event.
Because Rapids Riders an all volunteer organization these events won't be successful unless people volunteer. (Duh.)
The cost of membership in Rapids Riders is participation.
So pay your dues and help make Rapids Riders look good to the boating community. Even if you don't race your help is needed.

May 10 then practice will start. There will be race runs Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

Stone Arch
Slalom CANCELED June
14-15 2008 Minneapolis, MN Mississippi River at the Stone Arch
Bridge Flat/Moving Water
This race is on the power plant discharge channel that
flows into the main channel. Don't take that description lightly!
The meeting of the tailrace and the Mississippi creates an unpredictable series of
reactions waves which then swirls around piers of the Stone Arch Bridge.
Add a fluctuating level from the lock and it sets up an unpredictable
series of surging eddies, sharp eddy lines, and boat flipping boils.
A dependable roll is suggested. There is a huge art festival on the bluff above the river.
We do not have much access time on this private property so most set up must be
done in advance before the art festival moves in.
Final set up and practice will be June 14 with racing June 15.
You need to pre register or let the race director know you are coming.
If you just show up, you may not get in.

St. Croix Slalom
August 23-24, 2008
St. Croix River at Taylors Falls, MN (under the US Hwy 8 bridge)
Class II+
The St. Croix is a wide river and among the most scenic race sites.
Water levels have been around 1700 CFS the last couple of races, which sets up
a good series of boulders. A dependable roll is recommended since it's a vertical
canyon of flat water below the course. We partner with the National Park Service
doing some interpretive work with them.
For this race to happen there needs to be at least 20 adults committed to
being there for set up on Saturday, August 23rd. The deadline on this is August 13th.
Six could begin the process Friday afternoon- Evening August 22nd. Camping is available on site.
