Upcoming Pool Sessions    

            3 kayak skills sessions  Feb. 5, 12,19

*Art C. will present dates to Bob Dodds to see if he’s available to lead the instructional pool sessions. 

            2  canoe instruction sessions  Feb. 26 & March 5

            3  rolling sessions March 19, 26, April 2

                        **Deep end will remain available for open pool

                                    *Team Midwest (5 members) has offered to teach rolling

*Chad will coordinate instructors, rolling refresher course (March 5), etc.

Racing Report (Jeff B.):

*Moving Apple River race to May 20-21

Conoe U

*Dates:  May 20-21 and June 3-4

*Norway campground reserved for first weekend

*“Lake day” will become the first day of Canoe U

*Orientation and pool session will be combined into a 2-4 hour session (5-9

p.m.) on May 7, 2006

*We’ll look into moving dates of Canoe U for 2007 at an upcoming meeting

* Chad has a list of all certified instructors in MN, he will send it to Art

*Allan will contact Dale re: being in charge of food for Canoe U

*Natalie will contact Steve Stratman re: t-shirts (Natalie & Melissa will

review the design)

 

 

Marketing

Nate G. has offered to assist Bob W.

Bob W. was not present at the meeting to give an update

 

Motions

*There was a motion to remove MCA membership requirement from Canoe U tuition and from Rapids Riders membership.  This will be voted upon at our next meeting.

 

 

Misc.

Peter from Midwest Mtn plans to hold a  Demo at Vermillion River early this spring. 

 

The March 12 pool session will include a boat demo along with safety Rodeo (Chad will coordinate)

 

 

Team Midwest will start carrying gear in the van to the river and racing events.  They’re also trying to get a grant from Patagonia ($5000).  Potentially it will go toward a walkway at the put-in and take-out at the Vermillion. 

 

May 7 is our last reserved pool session

 

Chad will contact Bear Paw to check on possible upcoming certification class.
