New Business

Motion last meeting – carried over to tonight.

Remove MCA dues from mandatory Canoe U tuition.

Keep it as an option to encourage people to support the local paddling community, whitewater or otherwise.

Affiliate memberships are available if you do both at once.

We have to pay Paddle America as Rapids Riders anyhow.

Jeff Bolte explains:

In order to sanction races and have insurance, must be a Paddle America club on our own.

We pay ACA a membership fee of 225$

For events we have to name insureds for sanctioned events.

We don’t have much option for insurance.

If we do electronic reporting, we can get 20 free event memberships
Event memberships are $10.

Don’t need this for rented facilities – like the Brooklyn Center pool.

Need to Pay the ACA to be listed as PA club and have their insurance on events.

We can list events to be sanctioned later.

? Do we need to provide a roster of ACA club members?

A: No, If you list Rapids Riders as an individual joining ACA, you get a discount.

We don’t really have a choice to get our events insured.

Art makes a motion that we vote.

Nate and Dennis abstain from the vote.

The vote carries.

Chad makes motion to remove mandatory MCA dues from Canoe U tuition.($22).

Discussion: We should continue to have an optional pay.

Any objections?
